History

Nathan Road Kowloon Hong Kong was formerly known as the Majestic Hotel and was rebranded into a Novotel with a HK$188 million (approx US$24 million) refurbishment programme to upgrade the hotel to a 4-star Novotel.[8][9][10][11]It is owned by LaSalle Investment Management and managed by Accor. The Majestic Hotel used to be a cinema called The Majestic Theatre (大華戲院). It was opened in 1929, and became the Majestic Hotel and the 348 Disco and Karaoke bar. The disco was closed down a few years ago and was operated by a notorious Hong Kong triad gang leader, Teddy Hung Hon-yee.[12] He ran gambling rooms, opium dens and bars in Tsim Sha Tsui. In 2009 he found religion and repented to a priest after being arrested with 67 other triad gang members. It was widely reported in the local press.
